The Charleston Police Department have arrested a 26-year-old Walterboro resident as a suspect for a homicide that occurred near a playground in downtown Charleston.
Following an investigation, Lymik Nyshawn Pierce was arrested on July 22, 2024, and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He is currently in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston pending a bond hearing.
On June 10, 2024, shortly after 11 a.m. officers were dispatched to a playground on South Street for a shooting that just occurred. Once on scene they discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Charleston County EMS pronounced the victim deceased on scene. The victim was identified as David Williams, 25, by the Charleston County Coroner›s Office.
