On October 24, 2024, Walterboro Family Care and Pediatrics officially opened its doors. While the new facility at 830 Robertson Boulevard has been seeing patients since September, Genesis Healthcare, Walterboro Family Care and Pediatrics staff, and members of the community attended the ribbon cutting and building dedication in support of this new medical venture.
Beginning remarks were given by Howard Nettles, Director of Community Outreach and Engagement thanking all those present and the community for welcoming Genesis and helping to make the new facility a reality. Nettles then introduced CEO of Genesis, Tony Megna who also thanked those present and praised the Walterboro Family Care and Pediatrics staff who will be who the community sees daily and will entrust with their care. Megna then yielded the podium to CIO Paul Fulbright who warmly addressed attendees thanking them for their assistance and presence at the opening. Fulbright then spoke about an individual and their absolute importance to the project of this new Genesis Healthcare facility, Mr. Charles Farmer. Fulbright noted Farmer’s idealism and tenacity regarding the new healthcare facility and was proud to announce the building’s dedication as The Charles H. Farmer, III Community Health Center. Mr. Farmer took the podium and thanked everyone for coming also commenting how surprised and honored he was about the dedication. He said that he is never without words, but this honored had essentially rendered him speechless. Mr. Farmer, surrounded by Genesis Healthcare members and Walterboro Family Care and Pediatrics staff, cut the ribbon officially opening Colleton County’s newest health care facility.
