Walterboro Criterium draws crowd to Downtown

The 18th Annual Downtown Walterboro Criterium was held Wednesday, August 25 where the USA CRITS Cycling Teams featured professional male and female racers, along with Olympian athletes. The event drew a smaller-than-usual crowd, but still had many locals lining the downtown streets for fast-paced racing excitement. The event is an annual part of USA CRITS Speed Week’s nine days of racing.

Once again, amateur races were offered in the afternoon, followed by the ever-popular children’s races.

Top-3 Results from Wednesday’s event include:

Men CAT 2/3: 1 – Wesley Elford, Supra Functional Food Bars (35:58.7); 2 – Eric Loehle (36:35.4); 3 – Dyllon Gunsolus, Supra Functional Food Bars (36:35.6).

Men CAT 4/5: 1 – Reace Hudgeons (33:49.8); 2 – Floyd Small (34:26.8); 3 – Niels Seim (34:27.2).

Men MASTER 35+ CAT 1/2/3/4: 1 – Cody Buford, Carolina Cycling Team (37:27.6); 2 – Donald Brew, DC Velo Racing (39:24.5); 3 – John Davis, Support Clean Sport / BSCG / Gu (39:25.4).

Men MASTER 45+ CAT 1/2/3/4: 1 – Vance James, Ponte Vedra Racing (37:27.2); 2 – Jed Young, Supra Performance Cycling (39:26.1); 3 - WilliePayton,Axis/Crca (39:26.4).

Men PRO/1/2: 1 – Travieso Frank, Excel-City Bikes Racing Team (1:07:49); 2 – Ino Ilesic aldo, Road Cycling Heroes (1:07:50); 3 – Oyola Robigzon, Team Medellin EPM (1:07:50).

Women PRO/1/2/3: 1 – Paolo Andrea Munoz Grandon, CWA Racing p/b TREK (54:22.2); 2 – Kaia Schmid, LUX/sideshow p/b Specialized (54:22.7); 3 – Emily Ehrlich, CWA Racing p/b TREK(54:22.8).
