Walterboro Civitans welcomed several speakers to recent club meetings held at Dogwood Hills Country Club.

Hank Amundson, assistant city manager of Walterboro, spoke to the Civitans on August 26, explaining the goal and plans for the city to complete the next phase of the I-95 Loop project. This project connects 1-95 exit 53 thru Walterboro to 1-95 exit 57. The project is intended to highlight the many features of Walterboro and invite tourists to experience what the city and county offers.

Tiffany Norton-Cornette was the guest speaker at the September 9 Civitan meeting. As the new public relations director for Colleton Medical Center, Norton-Cornette spoke to the club regarding the many services that the CMC offers to citizens of Colleton County and Walterboro. She invited the public to call the hospital to learn about the many opportunities available to volunteer at the hospital, as well as to receive information about wellness programs. For more information, she asked that individuals please call (843) 782-2525.

At that same meeting, the Walterboro Civitan Club installed their newest members, Frank Santorella and his wife, Kimber. They are both retired and expressed an interest in making Colleton County a better place to live by involving themselves in activities that help everyone.

The Civitans are a long-standing local branch of the international non-profit group. The club and its members focus on community projects and on helping people with developmental disabilities.
