PRESS RELEASE - Do you understand what the Colleton County Capital Projects Sales Tax Referendum is about and how it will affect your taxes over the next 8 years?

Did you have a voice in deciding the final list and rankings of capital improvement projects that this proposed referendum will be funding?

Do you know how your tax dollars generated from the proposed new sales tax will be spent? If you answered No to any of the above questions, please VOTE NO on November 8th for the Colleton County Capital Projects Sales Tax Referendum (1% Sales Tax).

“Our Coalition does not have an objection to the projects on the list proposed by the projects commission, but we do have a problem with the way these projects were selected,” says Anderson Grant, Coalition for a Better Colleton Chairman.

If this referendum passes, we will be stuck with this additional tax for seven years! We are tired of our elected officials making poor business decisions for our county at the expense of the citizens. The coalition wants all citizens to VOTE NO for this referendum. This will allow us to visit this process again in two years, and if correctly orchestrated the citizens of Colleton will have an input and have a voice in this process.
