The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is holding their monthly “Love Where You Live” community litter pickup, with this event focusing on the Cottageville Highway area of the county.

The event is happening this Saturday, March 26th, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Anyone interested in participating should meet at the National Guard Armory in Walterboro as early as possible.

“We are committed to removing litter from our roads. We appreciate and value those who work with us to do this,” said Shalane Lowes, spokeswoman for the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, which started the “Love Where You Live” anti-litter campaign in 2021.

For this anti-litter effort, the Sheriff’s Office collaborates with the Keep Walterboro Beautiful non-profit organization. The goal is to remove litter from alongside highways and roads throughout the county. Together, the entities host several litter pickup events each year. The two groups also work with local students and volunteers to remove hundreds of pounds of litter during each litter pickup event.
