The Salkehatchie Indians are on a six-game win-streak in Region X and are ranked 20th in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Rankings as of February 3. The Indians are currently 20-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play. Salkehatchie is expected to move up in rankings after a 97-94 win last week over previously undefeated Caldwell Tech, which is currently ranked 16th in the polls.
Vince Cole’s lucky number might just be three. The sophomore guard reached a milestone 1,000th career point against Cape Fear Saturday Feb. 8, when he scored 33 points on the day. Earlier in the week, Cole hit a three-point shot with three seconds left on the clock in Salk’s road win over previously undefeated Caldwell Tech.
“I could not have accomplished anything without my coaches and teammates,” said Cole. “Without everyone’s support, this milestone would be just a dream.” Cole has committed to continuing his collegiate career at NCAA St. John’s College in the Big East Conference.
The Indians will travel to Denmark Technical College Wednesday Feb. 12, then host Richard Bland Saturday Feb. 15.
