AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM. The South Carolina Conference, ELCC committee has awarded Bethel United Methodist Church, Smoaks, a grant to fund and implement an after-school homework program initiative. The ultimate goal of the program is to strengthen and encourage children and families’ beliefs toward completing a successful 2020-2021 school term. Around 40,000 children in the state of South Carolina did not complete the 2019-2020 school term and were unaccounted for due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This program hopes to close that gap through the after-school homework program. If interested in participating, contact Susan Fryar, project director, at 843-909-0749.
