Two people were shot, one fatally at a Singleton Street residence Saturday afternoon, August 31st. Walterboro Police and Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene and found both individuals in the front yard. The adult female received multiple life-threatening wounds to the lower torso and the second person, an adult male suffered multiple wounds. The officers began caring for the injured parties which included bleeding control and CPR for the male, who was found unconscious and not breathing. Colleton County Fire-Rescue ambulances were dispatched for the gunshot victims and a third ambulance was called to assist an adult female who suffered a medical emergency at the scene of the shooting. The male patient was transported by Fire-Rescue to Colleton Medical Center, where the ED staff and a local surgeon worked to resuscitate him. The male patient did not survive his injuries. The female patient was in critical condition and transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight medical helicopter. The patient was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston for emergency surgery. The incident is being investigated by the Walterboro Police Dept.
