The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) is now accepting applications for turkey lottery hunts on public lands through Tuesday, March 1st at 5:00 pm.

A non-refundable fee of $5 is required of all applicants for the Multi-site Turkey Lottery Hunt and $5 for the youth applicant on the Youth Multi-site Turkey Hunt.

After the selection process occurs, only the primary applicant will receive email notification of the drawing’s completion.

In Colleton County, turkey hunts will be held at the Donnelley Wildlife Management Area (WMA) on April 6, April 13, April 20 and April 27th.

Youth turkey hunts will be held at the Donnelley WMA on April 2, April 9, April 16, April 23 and April 30th.

In addition to getting the required hunting license, state authorities also require a big game permit, a WMA permit and turkey tags. Even those on youth hunts must have all of these required permits and turkey tags.

Tags can be bought online or by phone. They can be bought over the counter at S.C. DNR regional offices, with sales starting in February.

For more information on the lottery information, go to www.dnr.sc.gov. and search for “turkey tags” under the hunting tab.
