A truck driver was seriously injured in a single vehicle accident on I-95 at the 60 mile marker northbound, on July 6. The semi-truck hauling produce ran off of the shoulder of the interstate at a high rate of speed and lost control. The truck overturned partially blocking I-95. Colleton County Fire-Rescue crews responded and extricated the male driver. He was treated at the scene and transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter for transport to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Gerald’s Wrecker Service moved the truck from the roadway to open up both lanes of travel.
