The shooting occurred on July 6th, when a 911-call was placed at about 11 p.m., alerting them that two people had just been shot.
On the rural dirt portion of Barracada Road in Walterboro, officers and firefighter-paramedics found two victims: one was dead and the other was critically injured. Both men sustained at least one gunshot, according to Shalane Lowes, spokeswoman for the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting victim is identified as 19-year-old J’Wann T. Johnson, of Walterboro, according to Colleton County Chief Deputy Coroner Wayne Walker.
The second shooting victim, whose identity has not been released, was 19 years old. He was transported via helicopter to a trauma center at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston. His condition is unknown.
Both the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) investigated this incident.
