On the night of April 16, deputies patrolling the area of La Dolce Avenue in Ridgeville heard multiple gunshots ring out in the area of Good Hope Landing. Deputies immediately responded to the area.

After arriving, deputies searched the area and saw a suspicious vehicle traveling without its headlights activated. Deputies stopped the car and noticed an open duffle bag with guns in plain view between two passengers in the rear of the vehicle.

Inside the duffle bag, deputies located numerous firearms, including a Glock 22, two AR-15s, a shotgun and a rifle that was still hot from being fired, along with ammunition and magazines.

Deputies seized additional guns, including a .38 Smith and Wesson under the driver’s buttocks, a Taurus Judge in the passenger console and a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield on the back floorboard.

Eight white pills of acetaminophen/hydrocodone, 21 Ecstasy pills, Scheduled II narcotics, and over 20 grams of marijuana were also found.

The three adults in the vehicle — Alonzo Markell Jenkins, 31, of Charleston; Shyheme Xavier Barnes, 25, Summerville; and Jokoshia Shaquana Pedraza, 25, of Summerville — are charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Additionally, Jenkins is charged with possession with intent to distribute scheduled narcotics and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

A fourth passenger, age 15, was released to his parent.
