He served as an Elder and on the foundation of the First Presbyterian Church, Albuquerque. He was also a member of the Colorado Gray Wolves Skiiers, the Rio Grande Rafters, and the Pagosa Golf Club. These affiliations are evidence of his love of the outdoors and profound appreciation of creation in all its forms. He was an avid hiker, golfer, skier, rafter, boater, and reflector on the natural world. In 2020 he moved to Colleton County’s Fire Hill community, where he had often visited his wife Nancy’s family. He was an affiliate member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Walterboro.
