Mrs. Bonnie Wiles Thomas, 80, of Walterboro, entered the Kingdom of Heaven Friday evening, February 21, 2025. She was at home with her family by her side. Born September 11, 1944, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, she was raised in Cameron, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late Thomas Fredrick Wiles and the late Gladys Edwards Wiles. She was a graduate of Cameron High School – Class of 1962 and a graduate of Palmer Business School in Columbia. She then married Mr. John Thomas and together, they had three children who were the light and love of her life. An active and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, she served in numerous capacities of the church’s work, the most special of which was visiting the shut-ins. She was active in her community that she dearly loved. She was a volunteer at the Colleton Medical Center, Meals on Wheels, Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, and was often found visiting the residents of the Veterans Victory House. She retired from American General Insurance Company where she was an administrative assistant. Bonnie was an avid tennis player and pickleball champion. She loved maintaining her yard, tending to her garden, watching for butterflies, and feeding birds. She was an avid fan of Clemson football. Most of all, she cherished her grandchildren and great grandchild. Surviving are: three children, Carey Thomas Sauls and her husband Todd, Audra Thomas Hudson and her husband Coleman, and Johnny Thomas and his wife Shelley; her twin brother, Ronnie Wiles and his wife Kathy; five grandchildren, Jake Sauls and his wife Shelby, Goodwin Sauls, Charlie Sauls, Colin Thomas, and Anne Mathis Thomas; and one great grandchild, Lettie Louise Sauls. She is also survived by her beloved feline companion, Buckee. The family is extremely grateful to Amedysis Health Care as well as caregivers Bernice Perry and Madeline Perry for the care given to Bonnie as well as her honorary caregivers, Goodwin Sauls and Shelley Thomas. As were Bonnie’s strict and direct instructions, no artificial plants or flowers will be accepted.
