The relationship of Psalm 4: The Godly for the Lord

Posted

Though the words “the Lord has set apart the godly” do not appear in Psalm 4 until the third verse, it is the beginning of the relationship everyone has with God. Do you feel you have been set apart by God?

Everyone who genuinely calls on the name of Jesus in faith is set apart not by themselves, for themselves, but by God for God.

What does this mean? It means the Christian saved by the grace of God through faith cannot live the life of the second verse of this psalm. They cannot live a double life — one for themselves and one for God. Do you?

Have you given your entire life to God by trusting Jesus in his life, his death, and his resurrection from the dead for your forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation?

If you have, the rest of this psalm is yours. You may call on God, and He will hear you (v. 3). You may know with confidence that God is yours and you are His (v.3). He is your grace (v.1), your gladness (v.7), and your peace (v.8). In Him is your safe harbor (v.8), now and forever.
