The library has summer plans

The Summer Reading Program at Colleton County Memorial Library is going to begin in mid-June.

Traditionally, this communitywide reading programs starts earlier in the year; however, this year, the program will start a little later due to the public-school schedule.

According to Colleton County Memorial Library’s Children’s Coordinator, Miss Shiela Keaise, the lineup for activities includes a new YouTube video for promoting the children’s summer reading program. There will also be in-person events, held on the library’s lawn.

Children’s programming kickoff begins on June 18 on the library lawn (or meeting room if raining) and will host Queen Quet at 10:00 a.m.

• All children’s programs will be on Wednesdays and Fridays beginning at 10:00 a.m.

• The remaining summer schedule of activities include:

• June 23-Riding on the Oliver Trail

• June 24 – Miss Shiela sings Library songs

• June 30-Visiting Melton Manor Farm

• July 2 – Why mosquitoes buzz

• July 7-Care at the Animal Shelter

• July 9 – Goldilocks rock

• July 16 – Tall Tales

• July 21-Life at Bee City

• July 23 – What Folktale am I?

• July 28-You-niversal Nerd presents super Tails

• The Grand Finale will be on July 30 with a Summer Reading video recap.

• Additional summer reading activities at the Cottageville Library are still being planned.

TEEN ACTIVITIES

Young Adult Coordinator Shonda Linder also has a flyer prepared for the YA Summer Reading program at the library’s main campus. Linder has Jamming Tuesday, with gaming fun and junk journaling. In this program, teens meet every Tuesday from June 22-July 27 from 4:00 p.m.-5:45 p.m. PlayStation 4/Nintendo Switch/Xbox One/PS VR and all other materials will be available and provided. This is for middle and high school students only.
