An elderly man was transported to the Burn Center at MUSC after suffering second and third-degree burns. The report of the fire was received Friday, November 8th. Colleton County Fire-Rescue arrived to find the singlewide mobile home already collapsed and the injured resident sitting in the yard. His Hospice Nurse stopped by to check in on him and discovered the fire. The man advised the home, located on a dead-end isolated dirt road, had burned down one or two years ago. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man at the scene for burns to his face and hands. No medical helicopters could fly due to poor weather conditions. The patient was transported to the Burn Center at MUSC. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
