On Saturday night April 25, the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ritter Road and Bowman Lane, interrupting a large crowd participating in illegal street racing.
Deputies issued 67 citations, recovered three stolen vehicles and made one arrest.
The individuals cited for illegal street racing spanned 21 counties across the state of South Carolina and into Georgia.
“Not only is street racing prohibited, but it’s also a direct disregard for the governor’s executive order during the COVID-19 state of emergency,” said Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Shalane Lowe.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office continues efforts to ensure the safety of Colleton residents and is asking anyone observing anything suspicious in their area to call 843-549-2211 immediately.
