Mrs. Cynthia Marie (Watson) “Cindy” Stevenson (85), widow of Robert Louis “Bob” Stevenson passed away peacefully October 6, 2024 with her 2 daughters by her side.
She was born June 22, 1939 at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Charles Ura and Mary Ester (Sweagles) Watson.
Cindy met Bob when he moved to Flint at 17 to attend General Motors Institute and was housing next-door to her family. She was only 12 at the time but would offer to wash dishes so she could watch the “cute boy” out the window next-door. They eventually began dating and married June 28, 1958. They moved to Rochester, New York and began a family and a wonderful marriage together living a life of faith, fun, family, and doing good works in the community.  They raised four children, did foster care for troubled teenagers, and ran a very large youth group for the community.  In 1974 Bob and Cindy began moving around the country advancing Bob’s position at work and the family’s adventures.  This included multiple places in Texas, Alabama, New York, Michigan and finally retiring in Fort Myers Florida.  Cindy worked many different jobs as they moved around but her favorite was writing the gourmet column for a local paper. She loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook.  When Cindy started having grandchildren in 1987, she officially declared she was  a “full-time grandma” and she took her job seriously and succeeded.  When Bob passed Cindy moved to Kingwood, Texas for 10 years then moved to Magnolias Of Walterboro in April 2023. She quickly gained many friends at Magnolias, Saint Anthony’s, with both the dance group and the chair exercise class at the rec center where she was known as the “Queen”  Cindy was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Robert Louis “Bob” Stevenson, and by her son George Fredrick Stevenson. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, son Robert Stevenson; daughters Sue (Curtis) Stokes and Debbie (Doug) Bennett; grandchildren Sara (Alex) Stevenson and David (Jessica) Stevenson; Larry (Christine) VanZomeren, Cynthia (Zach) Brown, Russell (Sarah) VanZomeren, Victoria (Kenzie) Vanzomeren, Gabe Stokes, Michael Stokes and Madison Bennett; sister Sara Persails and brother Russell (Vicki) Watson.
