Colleton County Middle School cafeteria and common area was transformed into an elegant venue March 1, 2025. The room featured soft lighting, sophisticatedly dressed tables in white with gold accents, and light live music filled the space. However, the highlight of the evening was the St. Paul congregation dressed in elegant dresses and fashionable suits celebrating how God has moved in their church and in their lives. St. Paul’s CME is lead by the Reverend Edward Moultrie.
The keynote speaker for the evening was Captain Curtis Thomas of the United States Air Force. He has also served as a State Trooper. The focus of his speech was “Live to Leave a Legacy”. Captain Curtis shared that he was able to succeed thus far in life personally due to those who came before him historically such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Tuskegee Airmen. Curtis also credits a 9th grade teacher who told him that it didn’t matter where someone starts as long as they finish strong. Those words prompted him to refocus his life during a time of personal difficulty and work toward personal success. He hopes his life provides a positive example to those who come after him, especially young people.
After Captain Curtis’ speech, Reverend Green blessed the food.
The Promised Land Band provided the music and singing for the event and performed an excellent set.
After the dining portion of the evening, Reverend Moultrie thanked all those who worked diligently to put on the event. He also thanked those that attended and invited the attendees to dance to the music of the band to conclude the evening.
