A Smoaks man lost his home after a fire on Saturday June 27 at 2:06 a.m.

The first engine arrived to find the singlewide mobile home approximately 40% involved. Firefighter-paramedics deployed a 1-3/4 handline and quickly knocked down the flames, sparing about half of the structure; however, the remainder of the home suffered substantial heat and smoke damage.

Very little of the man’s personal items were salvageable. The fire appears to have been electrical in nature and started on the north end of the mobile home.

The occupant was awakened by the smoke and was able to safely escape without injury.

A camper parked several feet in front of the mobile home was not damaged.

Units were on the scene for two hours.
