Delbert Wayne Smoak, 71, of Walterboro, entered into rest Monday morning, May 17, 2023, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born February 14, 1952, in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Lloyd Delbert Smoak and the late Gloria Gibson Smoak.  He was the owner and operator of Smoak’s Alignment and following retirement from operating his own business, he worked for the past eighteen years at the Walterboro Walmart.  He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  He will always be remembered for his love of watching westerns.

Surviving are: his wife of thirty-eight years, Mrs. Loriann Thomas Smoak; two sons, Matthew Wayne Smoak, Sr. (Dianne) and Andrew Thomas Smoak (Hannah) all of Walterboro; two sisters, Kathy Smyly of Ruffin and Janice Stokes of Orangeburg; and four grandchildren, Shannon Nicole Smoak, Matthew Wayne “M.J.” Smoak, Jr., Connor Ray Smoak, and Roman Michael Smoak. 

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, May 23, 2023, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.  The Reverend David Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow in the churchyard. 

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 2 o’clock that afternoon in the church sanctuary.
