Officers from the Walterboro Police Department responded to Walterboro Village Apartments at 601 Green Pond Hwy. after reports of a shooting about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.
According to a report released by WPD, witnesses on scene said a verbal argument between an unknown number of individuals led to a shooting. Three people were reported injured, one seriously.
Initial reports were of suspects in the parking lot shooting and a woman inside an apartment who had been shot and was bleeding. Walterboro Police officers and sheriff’s deputies responded and secured the scene.
According to information published on social media and confirmed through the department, firefighter-paramedics were directed to a 52-year-old woman who was shot in the abdomen. She was quickly treated at the scene, and then transported by ambulance to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital.
A medical helicopter was not available to transport the woman.
Law enforcement officers located a second victim inside another apartment.
Firefighter-paramedics treated a second victim, a 34-year-old male, for a gunshot wound to the leg. An ambulance transported him to Colleton Medical Center.
A third victim was found inside another apartment. The 37-year-old man received a grazing wound to the leg and did not wish to be transported to the hospital.
He was treated at the scene and remained home.

Second Thursday shooting
A 49-year-old female was lucky and received only minor injuries in a shooting incident in the area of Peurifoy Rd and Gadsden Loop at 11:55 p.m. on Thursday Aug. 2.
According to the incident report, the woman said that a person in a car shot at her vehicle, striking it several times.
The report said two rounds passed through the rear window and out the windshield — one of the shots brushed the woman’s shoulder.
She received a small laceration but was able to drive to the 1100 block of Hampton Street to call for help, the report said.
Walterboro Police Officers and Colleton County Sheriff’s deputies arrived quickly to secure the scene.
Firefighter-paramedics arrived a short time later and began treating the woman.
She declined ambulance transportation to the hospital.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
