The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office started a new award program for its employees. The Employee of the Quarter Program recognizes employees from each division with the sheriff’s office who display a “high level of commitment” to the sheriff’s office and its mission, vision, and values, according to Shalane Lowes, spokeswoman for the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office.
The new program was created under the direction of Sheriff Buddy Hill. It began in April of this year. A new set of employees will be awarded each quarter (every three months) throughout the calendar year.
“The program is designed to create a positive working environment, boost morale, show employees how much they are valued and appreciated,” said Lowes. According to her, the employee award program will also, help the sheriff’s office in its employee retention and recruitment efforts.
“It also fosters a spirit of healthy competition and recognizes division employees who display a high level of commitment to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office,” said Lowes.
Each person who was selected had to first be nominated for the award.
“The individuals nominated model behaviors such as a positive, professional attitude, respectful of policies and procedures, excellent job performance, helpful to co-workers, exhibits good communication and people skills, and a record of good attendance,” she said.
For this quarter, the following sheriff’s office employees are being recognized for being outstanding within their divisions.

Deputy Julie Swank, Road Patrol
Sgt. Laura Rutland, Investigations
Captain Angela Stallings, Administration
Sgt. Latrelle Daniels, Detention
Monique Boatwright, Telecommunications
Deputy Charles Strickland, Warrants/Civil Process Division
Deputy Paul Bennett, Court Security
“Congratulations on your achievements. You worked so hard for this, and you have been deservedly rewarded,” said Hill. “This is a natural result of your outstanding efforts, which were duly recognized. The Colleton Sheriff’s Office is fortunate to have members like you on our team. I am so proud of all of you and wish you even more success in the future.
“Together, we are making a difference. Keep up the great work,” he said.
