Shelter of Hope fundraiser results successful

In His Name Ministries sponsored a mega yard sale Saturday August 29 to raise funds for the new Shelter of Hope.

Over 15 individual yard sellers brought their wares to sell outside along with donations to the shelter being sold on the inside of the building. Thousands of items were available for purchase at discounted prices. Hot dogs and baked goods were also sold inside the building.

“We had a very good turnout and are looking and are looking forward to continuing this flea market and yard sale event,” said Stacy See, director of Shelter of Hope. “We sold spots to vendors for $10 and allowed people to bring things to sell. Inside the building we also have thing for sale that were donated to us. We wanted people to come in, look around, and ask questions about the future shelter that we are hoping to open in just a few weeks,” he added.

Several hundred people visited the site for the sale and $1,100 was raised for the shelter.

There was also a perlo rice dinner sale Friday Aug. 28 that raised approximately $2,300 for the shelter.

“We will have another mega yard sale on Sept. 12. If anyone would like to rent a spot from us, the price is $10,” Stacy said. “We plan on doing this the first Saturday of every month,” See added. The proceeds from space rental and food will go towards funding the daily requirements needed for the Shelter of Hope.

Henry and Cindy Wallace were enthusiastic about the shelter and yard sale. “This has been fabulous,” said Henry. “I wish everyone could have come out today.”

Nikki Hall agreed. “I wanted to come out here, buy a few little items and support the community shelter,” said Hall.

To be a vendor and be included in the next yard sale on Sept. 12, or to make a monthly tax free donation to the shelter, contact Stacy See at In His Name Ministries on Facebook.
