Colleton County High School Cougar Football standout Ian Shark participated in the Blitz Senior Game held Saturday Jan. 2 at Woodland High School in Dorchester. Shark helped his team, The East All-Stars, to a 38-21 victory over the West. Saturday’s game was designed to give the Class of 2021 an opportunity to showcase their talent for college recruiters.

“It was a great experience to play with some of the best players in South Carolina,” said Shark. “I enjoyed bonding and competing with the other players and had a great time overall. I was really happy to be able to see the Colleton County Cougar Football coaching staff and my family at the game to support me. I was also excited to end my last high school game on a winning note. It was an experience I will never forget.”
Currently, Shark is fielding offers from Alabama State, N.C. Central, Savannah State, Benedict College, Newberry College, Erskine College and an invited walk-on from The Citadel.
Colleton County’s head football coach Coby Peeler said, “I’m so proud of Ian for his selection to the game, and for how he played. The biggest compliment a coach can have is for other coaches to tell you not only what a talented player your guy is, but what a great, respectful young man he is with a great personality. That is a credit to him, his family, our staff, his teachers and everyone along the way who have helped mentor and mold him. Ian is a really great young man, and his family is why — fabulous people — but I hope in some small way, that we as a staff maybe offered some advice, some influence, or in some way helped. I’m just proud to have had the opportunity to know Ian, and his family, and have them be such a blessing to me personally.”
The following players were awarded MVP honors following Saturday’s game: Jaffari Pearson (QB) Camden HS; Willie Lane (RB) - Camden HS; Sully Hardin (K) - Myrtle Beach HS; Chance Mackey (DB) - Clover HS; Will Jeffocat (OL) - Pelion HS; Omega Blake (WR) - South Pointe HS; Aries Scott (DL) - Greenville HS; and Kalab Haven (LB) - North Central HS.
