Due to Governor Henry McMaster’s March 24 order to extend the closure of all public schools in South Carolina through April 30, Colleton County School District will be providing additional distance learning opportunities to students.
The South Carolina Department of Education announced that the third and fourth quarters will be combined as one semester, with a start date of January 6, 2020 and an interim date of March 13, 2020.
Starting April 1, parents will be able to log into the Parent Portal through PowerSchool to access their child's grades. Parents who do not have the Parent Portal set up can email Claudia Boensch at cboensch@colleton.k12.sc.us for support.
Information on picking up distance learning for K-8 students and Colleton County High School students is provided below:

K-8 Students
In order for students to receive new distance learning materials and drop off their completed packets, K-8 schools will be open on Wednesday April 1 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Thursday April 2 from 4-6 p.m. Parents who are not able to pick up these packets in person may also access them electronically on their child’s school website beginning April 2 after 3 p.m.

Colleton County High School Students
Colleton County High School students will be able to receive new distance learning materials and drop off their completed packets at their school on April 1 and April 2.
Students who need Chromebooks/laptops to participate in online learning will have the opportunity to receive one when they drop off their completed packets. In order to receive these Chromebooks/laptops, students or their parents must present a form of state identification, sign a user agreement, and pay a $25 device maintenance/cleaning charge, which will be charged to the student’s PowerSchool account. No fees will be collected on the day of device pickup, but they will be assessed at a later date. CCHS students will also be able to receive paper and pencil distance learning packets if they prefer.
Pickup times for Chromebooks/laptops and paper and pencil learning packets are:
April 1: 9-11 a.m. for seniors, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for all grades.
April 2: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for all grades.

All schools will follow the Centers for Disease Control social distancing guidelines. Please check school websites for specific drop-off/pickup procedures.
Parents who are not able to attend the drop-off/pickup sessions at their schools on April 1 and April 2 should contact their school’s principal for further instructions.
Any additional updates and information will be placed on CCSD website, colletonsd.org, and released through multiple information channels as soon as it is available.
