The Artist Handmade Series was held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the South Carolina Artisans Center. Several artists on campus were working on some of their pieces. Visitors had the opportunity to meet the artists, watch part of the process, and see some newly completed works while freely conversing.
There was a variety of creative pieces to explore and engage with including watercolors and mixed media, wood carvings, palmetto paintings, oyster shell sculptures, and pine needle shell jewelry. The visiting artists include Deborah Kinard, Jimmy Hoagland, Jennifer Evans, Letty Mocha Beatty, and Tonya Harris.
The Artist Handmade Series occurs every third Saturday of each month and it provides the center an opportunity to feature the artists, their craft demonstrations, and live performances.
In December there will be a set of Special Holiday Handmade Series that will be held on three Saturdays leading up to Christmas Dec. 3, Dec. 10, and Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. For more information, contact David Smalls at (843) 549-0011 or email@example.com.
