A Ruffin woman died from injuries received after her vehicle struck a parked semi-trailer on Deliverance Rd at Big Easy Dr., Tuesday morning 09-May. At 08:10, a caller to 9-1-1 reported the accident and advised that the driver of the car was not breathing. Firefighter-Paramedics from Station 18 arrived minutes later to find the woman in cardiac arrest. Crews removed the woman from the vehicle and began resuscitative efforts. She was transported emergent to Colleton Medical Center in Fire-Rescue Medic 18. The ED continued resuscitative efforts, however the patient did not survive. It appeared the eastbound KIA Sorento passed a stopped vehicle in the roadway, then collided with the back of a parked flatbed trailer. The impact caused heavy damage to the Sorento. The bright early morning sun may have been a factor in the crash. No one else was injured in the collision. Deliverance Road in the area of the accident was closed for over two hours while the Highway Patrol and State Transport Police investigated the crash.
