This summer, our very own Royal-Isaiah Perkins of Walterboro will join outstanding students from across the nation to take part in a unique academic and career-oriented development experience, NYLF Pathways to STEM.

NYLF Pathways to STEM is one of the Envision by WorldStrides family programs (www.envisionexperience.com) that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.

Royal-Isaiah was nominated by his Language Arts teacher, Ms. Douglas, to participate in the forum at Cottageville Elementary School.

He has a passion for traveling and acquiring new knowledge; he takes great pride in donating toys and clothing to our local Goodwill.

With a competitive spirit, Royal-Isaiah consistently aims to surpass the expectations set by his family and friends.

Currently, he is a student at Cottageville Elementary School and has been a member of the Circle of Academic Excellence for the past two school years, an honor he achieved through outstanding performance on the South Carolina state assessments.

This year, Royal-Isaiah triumphed in the Text Dependent Writing Challenge and achieved the highest overall average in Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts, which led to him receiving The Eagle awards!

Additionally, he secured third place in the Colleton County District Spelling Bee of 2025.

Royal-Isaiah shared the title of Valedictorian for Cottageville Elementary School’s Class of 2025 with his close friend, Wyatt Kittrell.

We are confident that they will continue to excel academically as they transition to Colleton County Middle School.

“I am excited for Royal-Isaiah to meet, work, and collaborate with fellow high-aspiring students from other cities and schools,” said Dr. Jan Sikorsky, Vice President, Education for Envision.

NYLF Pathways to STEM is a wonderful opportunity for ambitious young students to explore their interests outside the classroom and discover how to innovate and think creatively through hands-on immersive learning. Our students are challenged with real-world simulations and problems, working together to develop unique solutions and projects to bring life to their studies and career interests.
