An adult male was critically injured in a high speed, single vehicle accident on ACE Basin Parkway north of Green Pond April 2nd. The northbound pickup truck drove off the right shoulder of the road, over-corrected, and rolled over several times coming to rest on its side in the median of the highway. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and found approximately 50 feet from the scene. The man suffered multiple traumatic injuries that included a head injury. He was treated at the scene by Colleton County Firefighter-Paramedics, then transported to the Trauma Center at MUSC. No medical helicopters could fly due to fog. Northbound ACE Basin Parkway was blocked for a short period on time while the South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
