A residence in the Roadside Community of Colleton County caught fire on Nov. 17th.

Firefighter-paramedics with Colleton County Fire-Rescue arrived and found an exterior car port and two outdoor buildings filled with flames. The buildings on fire include a pump house and a debris pile, as well as a one-acre grass fire in a nearby field, according to Barry McRoy, director of Colleton County Fire-Rescue. “Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple hand lines to combat the fires and to protect the residence,” said McRoy. “The two out buildings had already collapsed and the roof of the car port fell shortly after arrival. Crews were able to save the pump house and quickly brought the grass fire under control.” According to McRoy, there was no damage to the family’s house. However, a classic car – a 1967 Ford Galaxie – was destroyed in the fire.

McRoy says the cause of the fire is a yard debris fire that got out of control.

No one was injured in the blaze.
