Mrs. Rhonda Jacquelyn Chaltraw Hughes, known to everyone as “Jackie”, 73, of Walterboro entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, May 11, 2022 at Colleton Medical Center.  She was the wife of the late Clinton Lee Hughes, Sr.

Born November 25, 1948 in Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late William Joseph Chaltraw and June Herndon Chaltraw.  Mrs. Jackie was a talented florist and loved working with flowers.  She worked for Simply Daved Flowers and then worked as a floral designer for Bi-Lo, Reid’s and retired from Food Lion.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Walterboro Branch and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She was an avid Elvis fan, loved gardening, taking trips to the beach, and especially loved her animals.

Surviving are: her children, Rhonda Leah Hughes of Walterboro and Clinton Lee Hughes, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Walterboro; grandchildren, Steven Lee Robertson and his wife Jean of White Bluff, Tennessee, Jordan Andrew Robertson of Walterboro, Matthew Aaron Robertson and his wife Bailey of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Jessica Renee Beach Hughes of Walterboro; sisters, June Lynn Branham and her husband Mark of Lexington and Dee Chaltraw Kinard of Walterboro; and many nieces and nephews to include Quinn Kinard, Ashley Leaphart and Brian Busby.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services were held 11 o’clock, Monday morning, May 16, 2022 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment followed in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
