You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:13
Are you happy with your life? Do you feel content and satisfied? Have your decisions in life led you to a good place? Perhaps you dream and hope for happiness. It is easy to be seduced by the pleasures of this world, and in our efforts to “indulge the flesh” we very subtlety fall into the trap of bondage. The lies of sin feel good until they have us in a place where we can’t get out. I have been there. I have felt trapped in a habitual behavior that was destroying my life and my relationships. I wanted to be free. I wondered if I would ever be happy again.
The Bible says that you “were called to be free.” God wants you to live life with freedom and joy. Freedom doesn’t mean rebellion, chaos, sin and destruction. Freedom means life the way God designed it to be lived. Real freedom is found in a relationship with God through Jesus. Freedom is knowing you are right with God. Freedom is escaping the bondage of sin.
God wants you to be free, but what do you want? What direction is your life going? It’s not too late to trust God, and turn to Jesus. Make the decision to turn away from everything that has separated you from God. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God who took the punishment of your sins upon Himself so that He could give you a right relationship with God. If you have done that, would you bow your head and thank Him. Ask Jesus to lead you as you grow in your relationship with God and determine to follow Him from now on.
