A QuikTrip Travel Center is scheduled to open in Walterboro in the summer of 2024. The facility is set to be located across the street from Walmart and The Shops at Walterboro plaza on Bells Highway.

QuikTrip got its start in 1958 when Burt Holmes convinced an old classmate, Chester Cadieux, put money into and operate what would be named QuikTrip. Their first store opened September 25, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Fast forward to 2023 and there are 1,010 QuikTrip locations in the United States. 70 of those 1,010 locations are in South Carolina with the next one being built right here in Walterboro. “We are excited to come to Walterboro, S.C.”, said Aisha Jefferson-Smith, a spokesperson for the QuikTrip corporation.

The Walterboro location will feature a more spacious layout than traditional QuikTrips. It will have room for 20 cars for gas and six diesel bays for trucks. There will also be an expanded QT kitchen offering fresh food made to order and drink items. The facility is anticipated to open in the Summer of 2024.
