Colleton County has a severe shortage of poll workers for the upcoming election on Saturday Feb. 29.

Angela Upchurch, director of voter registration, says that she needs five or more people to help with voting this Saturday.

“I have had several people who trained with me, but then dropped out. We need five or six more people to be at the polls to work the election on next Saturday,” said Upchurch. “Please give your time to help us out.”

The democratic presidential primary is Saturday Feb. 29. Polls are open from 7: a.m. until 7 p.m. Those interested in becoming a poll worker, contact the Colleton County Board of Voter Registration and Elections as soon as possible at 843-549-2842 to fill out an application and receive training.
