The Colleton County School Board and its district officials are working with parents and the public to create a new in-person plan for the fall of this year.
District leaders announced last week that they are creating “a plan to ensure a safe return” to in-person instruction for the fall semester: schools will release for the current school year on June 18th and classes will resume in Colleton County for the 2021-2022 school year on August 16th.
To create this plan, leaders are asking for the public’s input.
Residents were able to give their opinion on how to return to in-person learning by speaking to the school board during a June 15th meeting. This meeting occurred after this newspaper’s print deadline. However, Colleton residents can also give their input on the back-to-school plan by emailing inpersonreopen@colleton.k12.sc.us by.
“Once public input has been examined by the district, the safe return to in-person instruction plan will be shared with the Colleton County School Board of Trustees for information purposes and placed on colleton.k12.sc.us for public by 4:30 p.m. on June 24,” according to Sean Gruber, district spokesman.
