PEDESTRIAN STRUCK

An adult Colleton County man was critically injured on Wednesday morning after he was struck by a car. The man was walking in the road near the 16000 block of the ACE Basin Parkway at about 6:11 a.m. when he was hit by a Buick LaSabre near the intersection of Clinic Drive. The man had a partially-amputated leg and other critical injuries, according to Colleton County Fire-Rescue Chief Barry McRoy. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and rendered aid to the man until authorities arrived, said McRoy. The man was transported to the trauma center at MUSC in Charleston. The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
