Pauline Dismukes Smith Morris (Cricket)

Pauline Dismukes Smith Morris (Cricket), age 60, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022.  She was a beloved mother, sister and friend who never met a stranger. She is preceded in death by her husband, Terry Morris, her brother, Madison Callaway Smith (Nat) and her parents, Dr. Warren S. Smith and Pauline Burge Jones Smith (Polly). Cricket is survived by her son, Jake Logan Morris, her parent in-laws, Robert J. Morris, and Jeanette R. Morris, and by her four siblings and their spouses, Warren S. Smith Jr. (Skeet) and his wife Linda Smith, Julia Smith Ransom (JJ), Malcolm Burge Smith (Bugs) and his wife Lark Smith, and Rebecca Rizer Warren Smith (Becky).

Cricket was born and raised in Walterboro, South Carolina, where she grew up with her five siblings and an assortment of dogs, chickens, alligators, rabbits, birds, squirrels, one raccoon and one boa constrictor, Dork.  She acquired her love of animals and healing from an early age and went on to be a Veterinary Technician after graduating from Walterboro High School. She continued working with and rescuing animals throughout her life, calling the Farm her “Happy Place”.

Her love and passion for animals was only matched by her devotion to others as a caregiver.  She spent her life taking care of others, sick and elderly as well as family, sharing her time and love without limits.

Cricket was most proud of her son, Jake, who recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Georgia College and State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

‘In the end, nothing we do or say in this lifetime will matter as much as the way we have loved one another.” -Daphne Rose Kingma
