Read Leviticus 22-24. Do you notice Yahweh's expectation for sacrifices? Perfection! No blemishes, flaws, or abnormalities. Is that too much for the God of the universe to expect? Is He not worthy of better and more than we often give? When you go into worship, are you indifferent, distracted, or hurried? Have you been prayerless through the week? Are you weak in singing your praises for and to Yahweh?
When you go to worship, what kind of sacrifice do you offer? Oft times, with inflated humility, we say, "I'm not perfect." Jesus was the perfect sacrifice, and it is His blood that makes us acceptable to a holy God.
But El-Shaddai, the all-sufficient God Who pours out blessing certainly expects you to do your part! He inspired the apostle Paul to write about His expectation. Check out Romans 12:1-2: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Resolve to present your body and mind to be used for the glory of God!
In your journal today write everything you can remember about your behavior during the week at home, while driving, while shopping, at work, and at church. Was ALL of it pleasing to the Lord?
Do you give sacrificially to the Kingdom? Do you help others like you should when you are asked? Do you look for opportunities to serve God instead of hoping someone else will take up the slack and do the work? How can you fix your lack of attention to God and do what He requires of you?
Make a list of the behavior in your life that you need to change to become a flawless sacrifice to God.
Pray: My all-sufficient God and the One Who pours out blessing, forgive me when my offerings to You have been substandard. Forgive me when my service is as little as I can do to feel better about myself. Indeed, Lord, I often present my body, my mind, and my heart to other things as much or more than I present them to You. Forgive my idolatry. Strengthen me so that I might discipline myself to always offer my best and my all to You.
