Mr. Curtis Francis Murdaugh, affectionately known to everyone as “Curt”, 62, of Round O, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, March 6, 2023, at Roper St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.
Born June 23, 1960, in Colleton County, he was a son of Sadie Muller Murdaugh and the late Curtis Marshall Murdaugh. He retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineering Associate II, where he had worked for 34 years. He was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in Grover and attended Providence United Methodist Church in Round O. Curt was a member of Smoaks Masonic Lodge No. 231, where he was Past Master and had held every chair in the lodge many times.
Curt was an avid outdoorsman and farmer who loved sunflowers, wildlife, gardening, and protecting the ground God gave us. He loved NASCAR and his favorite drivers were Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick. He was quick-witted and always radiated good humor. Curt was a devoted family man. He truly loved his entire family and loved to spend time with each of them. To his wife, he was her soul mate, confidant, and protector. To his girls, who he was always extremely proud of, he was their super hero and the best dad anyone could ask for. To his nieces and nephews, he was more than an uncle; as he believed in supporting them, nurturing them, and being there for everything he could. He was his brother’s biggest fan and enjoyed teaching him the way through the masonic lodge, the right way. Curt loved his friends as his family and if you knew Curt, you knew that he loved you genuinely. He was a teacher who tried to pass on the lessons he learned through life to the young men and women he knew.
