Mr. Lawrence O. Linder, 79, of Smoaks, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2021 at Trident Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Gail Blume Linder.

Born July 31, 1941 in Bamberg County, he was the son of the late Clyde Goodwin and Marie Linder Wright, and was raised by his grandparents, James Wesley Linder and Letha Stephens Linder. He served his country in the United States Army.  He retired from Westinghouse/International Paper where he had worked for over 30 years.  Mr. Lawrence was a faithful member of Little Swamp United Methodist Church, where he served on the cemetery committee.  He was also a member of the VFW.  He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Mr. Lawrence loved his family, his community and was a friend to all he knew.

Surviving are: his son, Michael Shane Linder and his wife Wendy of Smoaks; grandchildren, Tabitha Preacher, Robert Spahn, Christopher Spahn and Brittany Sutton (Michael); great grandchildren who knew him as “Pop-Pop”, Kenley Preacher, John David Spahn, Luke Sutton and Leo Sutton; half-sisters, Patricia Wright and Jewell Wright; several cousins and extended family to include: Pattie and Chopper Gibson, Mark Linder, Marvin Linder, Tucker Linder, Kenny Linder, Jimmy Linder, Johnny Linder, and Midge Resquer. He was preceded in death by brothers, J.L. Linder, Richard Linder and James Linder; half-brother, Bobby Wright; and a cousin, Larry Linder.

Funeral services were held 3 o’clock, Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Little Swamp United Methodist Church, 17465 Hunters Chapel Road, Smoaks. The Reverend Doug Marchant officiated.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.
