The Colleton County Board of Voter Registrations and Elections continues to look for poll workers.

The local board needs about 20 more people who will volunteer to be a part of the local elections process: this 2022 election year will feature multiple local, state and national seats in the November General Election.

“We need people who are civic minded and who want to get to know their community. Training is mandatory prior to Election Day - online and in person,” said Angela Upchurch, executive director of the Colleton County Board of Voter Registration and Elections.

Election Day for all poll workers begins at 6:00 a.m. and ends after 7:00 p.m. after all voters have voted, paperwork completed and all equipment is packed up.

According to Upchurch, the State of South Carolina pays $60.00 for training and $75.00 for working Election Day for a total of $135.00.

Election Clerks (those in charge at each precinct) will receive an additional $60.00 for paperwork and the pick-up and return of some election equipment for a total of $195.00.
