A 53-year-old male was critically injured after his moped ran into the back of a pickup truck in the 7600 block of Sidneys Road on Wednesday afternoon July 15 at 4:29 p.m.
The man received multiple traumatic injuries, including a head injury. He was not wearing a helmet.
Firefighter-paramedics treated him at the scene, then transported him by ambulance to a nearby field to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. He was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital in North Charleston.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
