The Colleton Prep Athletic Department issued a statement dated Tuesday Jan. 5 confirming the resignation of Cody Mincey, head baseball coach for the War Hawks. Mincey served as the head of the baseball program since 2017.
Athletic Director Greg Langdale issued the following statement:
“Coach Cody Mincey has informed the Colleton Prep Athletic Department that he is stepping down as the head coach of the War Hawk Varsity and JV baseball teams. Coach Mincey is stepping away to pursue another job opportunity. Coach Mincey has served as the head of the War Hawk baseball program for the past three years. The Colleton Prep family would like to thank Coach Mincey for his hard work and dedication over the past three years to the War Hawk baseball team. We would like to wish him the best as he pursues his new opportunities. Thank you Coach Mincey for all of your hard work.”

Last week, Mincey said he had accepted a position as the athletic director at Jefferson Davis Academy in Blackville.
“I want to start by thanking Jill Burttram and the board of directors at Colleton Prep Academy for allowing me the opportunity to be part of this school and the baseball program,” said Mincey. “My time at CPA was more fulfilling than I could have ever dreamed or imagined. The friendships and memories made will last a lifetime and will be cherished deeply.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the kids, families and faculty for welcoming me with open arms since the very first day,” said Mincey. “Because of each of you, Walterboro felt like home. To my players, I have had the pleasure of coaching along the way — I want to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication to the school and baseball program. The memories made will always be cherished. I wish everyone at Colleton Prep the very best.”
Mincey plans to keep his baseball and softball training facility, Alpha Sports Performance, open. “I want to continue to make sure the community has a place to train,” said Mincey. “I intend to have close ties with the community moving forward.”
Colleton Prep has made an internal promotion naming Coach Collin Miller to the position of head varsity and JV coach. Miller served as the pitching coach for Wesley College from 2017-2019 and served as a high school scout. In addition, he was the pitching coach in the Collegiate Baseball League in 2017 for the Myrtle Beach Surf. Miller has coached several showcase teams across the state.
“Coach Miller served as the Middle School baseball coach last year,” said Langdale. “He has been a teacher at Colleton Prep the last two years.”
