Isaiah 41:10 says “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand” Benjamin Franklin Millen, son of the late Albert and Mary Lee Millen was born on February 17, 1938, in Cottageville, SC. He entered eternal rest on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC, after a brief illness. “Frank” as he was affectionately known grew up doing farm work in South Carolina. At an early age his work ethics and desire to provide for his family were instilled in him. He was educated in the Public-School system of Colleton County. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1955 where he served as a Field Arty Crewman and completed the Generator Mechanic Course. He was Honorably discharged as a Specialist 4th Class after serving his country. After his military discharge he lived in New York for many years where he worked various jobs. He later returned to his hometown of Cottageville and began working as a Bulldozer Operator at Hercules where he later retired. Frank was heavily involved in his community, and he enjoyed hunting and fellowshipping with his Masonic brothers. Frank became a member of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, and he served faithfully in many capacities until his health failed. Frank was known as being a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes of who he was. He was proceeded in death by his wife Jerline Millen and brothers James “Marvin” and Albert “Jr.” Millen. Frank leaves behind to cherish his memories: his daughter Lakeisha Rolle (Rashard) of Raleigh NC, granddaughter Sekai Thomas of Charlotte, NC, two brothers Euric and Roman Millen of Cottageville, SC, three sisters, Delores Ackerman of Brooklyn, New York, Dorothy Grice and Patricia Madyun of Irvington, New Jersey. A host of nieces, nephews, a very dear friend Johnnie Holmes and numerous other relatives, cousins, and friends.
