Michael L. Craven, husband of Mary Alice Fletcher Craven, passed away early Monday morning, August 29, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Hospital in West Ashley.  He was 71.  

Michael was born in Colleton County December 30, 1950 a son of the late Oscar and Miriam Jones Craven.  After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served his country faithfully for four years.  Michael spent his life as a logger in the woods of the Lowcountry, beginning his career with Lightsey Brothers, Inc.  He was an active member of the Jacksonboro Baptist Church, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending his time in the outdoors with his family hunting and fishing.  

In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, he is survived by his sons, Wes Craven (Ashlea) and Adam Craven (Lindsey).  He leaves behind his grandchildren Gabe, Abigail and Preston Craven, his brother Dennis Craven (Linda) and his sister Linda Craven Langevin.  He is survived by his brother-in-law Elliott Fletcher (Joann) and an extended family to include a nephew Greg Fletcher and four nieces, Holly Cross (Daniel), Jamie Brabham (Thomas) Erin Craven, and Cathy Lemacks (Jeremy).  

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, September 1, 2022 at 11:00 at the Jacksonboro Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 in the church sanctuary. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
