Jade Jenkins
What are your thoughts on COVID-19?
I think COVID-19 is a horrible disease and no one is really taking it seriously. It’s crazy how everyone is being affected by it.

What do you miss the most about pre-quarantine?
I honestly miss being able to hang out with my friends and go places. I just miss everything being normal.

Who is your favorite teacher?
My favorite teachers were always Mr. Fanchette and Mr. Kumar. They’ve always put their students first before anything and that’s rare.

What is your fondest memory of high school?
The fondest memory from high school for me was all the laughs I had with my friends, honestly. They’ve always made my day.

How has virtual learning affected you?
Virtual school has been easy but also difficult. I loved teaching myself, I just didn’t like how we barely had any contact with some of our teachers.

What are your future plans?
I plan on attending Winthrop University to study nursing and eventually become an CRNA.

What senior activity do you feel like you have been robbed off because of COVID-19?
I feel like COVID-19 robbed us from experiencing a lot of senior activities. Like senior ditch day, our last actual day of school, and so much more.

Shaleshia Funn
What are your thoughts on COVID-19?
This has been a very long pandemic and I did not know it would last this long. It’s way harder than what I thought. I assumed it would be like the flu.

What do you miss the most about pre-quarantine?
I miss going to school, having the chance to go places without worrying about someone sneezing or coughing on me which could lead to getting the coronavirus.

Who is your favorite teacher?
I would have to pick between Coach Reed, Mrs. Mundell, and Mr. Finnegan.

What is your fondest memory of high school?
Every day was a memory — it was always different. I have a story for just about every day, it’s too hard to pick just one.

How has virtual learning affected you?
Virtual learning has taken a toll on me. I am a more traditional learner — I would rather write than work on a computer. The work they gave was not very hard, but it was a lot. It was especially challenging dealing with when to meet the teachers.

What are your future plans?
My future plans are to complete basic training in the fall for the U.S. Army Reserves and then attend a four-year college to major in chemistry and then later become a pharmacist.

What are your thoughts on graduating June 6?
I don’t have a problem with how they are doing graduation I am just glad they are doing it. I knew that we would have some restrictions. I am just glad we are walking on the field.

Megan DeWitt
What are your thoughts on COVID-19?
I personally think that it is like a lesson for us, because we have been abusing all our blessings and basically not appreciating how good we have it. It was meant to give us a break.

What do you miss the most about pre-quarantine?
Being able to hang out with my friends without worrying about places being closed.

Who is your favorite teacher?
Probably Mr. Kumar

What is your funniest memory of high school?
Falling up the stairs during the changing of class and one of my friends was on the top of the stairs laughing at me.

How has virtual learning affected you?
It really was not that bad, because I was a duel-enrollment student so my class with the University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie ended around the end of April.

What are your future plans?
I am going to Georgia Southern University in the fall and I will be majoring in Biology on a pre-med tract. As of right now I am inspiring to be an oncologist.

Who has had the biggest impact on your educational journey?
My parents, because they always saw the potential in me and pushed me to do the best that they knew I could do.
