Walterboro City Council held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, May 6th. Under Old Business, City Council gave second and final reading of an ordinance to rezone a parcel of land on Moore Street from Industrial District (ID) to High Density Residential (HDR) and an ordinance imposing a moratorium on the consideration of special exceptions and the issuance of other land use or development approvals for multi-family developments.
Under New Business, City Council approved ordinances to adopt the City of Walterboro fiscal year 2025-26 General Fund budget, Enterprise Fund budget and Comprehensive Fee Schedule for the Utility Support Department. City Council also approved an ordinance to annex 102 Fairview Drive into the City of Walterboro.
Also under New Business, City Council passed a resolution to authorize the City Manager to prepare and submit a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) community infrastructure application for the new well/well upgrade project and to commit funds to meet the matching commitment. A resolution to declare May 4-10, 2025, as “Professional Municipal Clerks Week in South Carolina” was passed and consideration for a Community Health Walk on June 7, 2025, at 8:30 AM was approved. Finance Director, Amy Risher and the Finance Department were recognized for the City of Walterboro being the recipient of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year 2023-2024 marking the 13th consecutive year the city received this distinction.
